              Cabin Gas Struts

              When compared to the old method of using metal springs, gas struts for tractors are clean, compact and more reliable. The basic design of a modern gas strut is similar to that of a common bicycle pump. The strut uses a cylinder filled with gas which is compressed/pressurised by a piston that exerts force similar to a metal spring. When measuring a replacement gas strut for your cab you will need 3 measurements. First of all you’ll need the diameters of the rod and the cylinder. Secondly you will need the stroke length, (this is the distance from the join of the end fitting to the rod down to where the cylinder starts). Thirdly you need to measure the overall length taken from the centre of each connecting rod end.
