Leyland tractors started out under the name of Nuffield tractors that were original designed and built by the Morris Motor Limited in Birmingham in the mid to late 1940’s. In 1951 the Morris Motor Ltd became part of the BMC (British Motor Corporation) which subsequently merged with British Motor Holdings. In 1968 the government sponsored a merger of the BMH with LMC (Leyland Motor Corporation) to form British Leyland. This merger saw the demise of the poppy red of the Nuffield tractors to become the blue two tone colour associated with Leyland tractors in 1969. Leyland continued to make tractors until the 1982 when Marshall Tractors Ltd brought Leyland Tractors.Popular Leyland tractor models include: 154, 245, 253, 255, 262, 270, 272, 282, 285, 344, 384, 462, 472, 482 and 485.
