SHW has a worldwide reputation as one of the leading manufacturers of spring steel tines for front mounted and telescopic loader attachments. With their centuries-old experience of forging and hardening of steel, this German company manitains permanent control of the production process to gaurantee the exceptional quality of their loader tines.

Over the years SHW's expertise in this field has been based on the solid foundation of decades of forging experience. Using exclusively roll forged spring steel in compliance with the very narrowest tolerances, this, in conjunction with the production process, provides the guarantee of maximum load capacity combined with high flexibility. The result: exceptional quality. All SHW tines are subject to 100% inspection on completion of the production process, providing the assurance of consistent quality. Another key feature of their tines are the cones (or bushes). The cones are produced at SHW using CNC controlled machining centres, ensuring a perfect fit in conjunction with SHW welding sleeves.

Key Features

• Material: Silicon manganese spring steel with a special alloy (37 S.6 So) specifically desgined for manufacturing tines which gives them the strength and flexibility required for the toughest conditions.
• Tine profiles are roll forged using modern robot technology
• Tines are heat-treated, hardened and tempered, nominal hardness 45-49 HRC
• Cone and thread CNC-machined
• Every tine is straightened and so subjected to 100% quality control
• Quality tested
• Environmentally friendly powder coating

How Strong Are SHW Tines?

Load Testing

Depending on the diameter and usable length the tine is loaded several times at fixed points (P1,P2,P3) with a maximum of load without permanent deflection. The load (N) is shown in the table. This is a static test but in practice and depending on the use, a factor of safety must be included in the calculation. Each tine is hand tested during the manufacturing process to ensure high quality standards are achieved.
