Cab Door Cables for Tractors

The doors of a tractor cab is locked in its closed position by a lockable latch. This latch is released by pulling on either the handle inside the tractor cab or the door handle mounted externally on the door. Although the door lock requires a key, this key is often not unique to each individual tractor but instead can be one-size-fits-all. When the handle of the tractor cab door is pulled the latch mechanism is released by the cable connecting the door handle to the latch release. Since doors are opened and closed regularly the wear rate on those door cables can be high and a smooth action is preferred to reduce wear and tear. To avoid incomplete opening or closing of door latch the tension in the cab door cables must be correctly adjusted. To much slack leads to the door not opening correctly, too much tension in the cable may cause the door to opened unintentionally.

How to select the correct replacement cab door cable

Our cab door cables are listed by length, OEM/Manufacturer part number, suitable applications (tractor models) and "End Type" (how the cable is connected to the latch and door handle). The easiest way to find the correct replacement cable is to use the oem number. If that is not known door cables can be matched by make and model fitment or even by length and connection methods. It is important to use the correct length of cab door cables to avoid unnecessary bends in the cable (increasing friction and chances of snagging) or tension in the outer cable housing.
