              Perkins Parts

Found in 1932 in Peterborough by two men, Frank Perkins (salesman) and Charles Chapman (engineer). Their combined vision was to revolutionise the motor industry with better performing diesel engines. At the time diesel engines where considered heavy and very slow revving machinery which were not popular. In their first year only 35 engines were manufactured mainly for trucks and cars. After 6 record breaking speed awards, the diesel engine started to gain popularity. It wasn’t until later in the 30’s that Perkins engines were built for agricultural machinery. During the war they continued to produce engines mainly for maritime use. After the hostilities Perkins engines gradually grew with sales expanding across the EU and eventually into America. Today Perkins engines now exist in a wide variety of machinery developed all over the world.
