              The clutch is designed to allow for a smooth and efficient operation to transfer torque between the engine and the gearbox transmission to enable drive to reach the road wheels. Most vehicles will use either a clutch cable, or in some circumstances, hydraulics to operate the friction clutch. The basic clutch composition is that a flywheel is attached to the engine crankshaft, the clutch then sits in between this and a specific pressure plate. When the clutch pedal is pressed, the pressure plate forces the clutch onto the flywheel. Even with the most careful of operators, a clutch is always subject to extreme loads producing wear and tear.
